Sacristan

sacristansThe Sacristan is the person who assists the priest by setting up the altar for the Mass.

The Sacristan is sometimes said to “work behind the scene” by opening up the church
before parishioners arrive as well as setting out the hosts, wine, vessels, and necessary
linens. Depending on the Liturgical Year the Sacristan may be called to change the colors
of the priest vestments.
