Children’s Formation Ministry

The heart of our program is the dedication of our catechists and their willingness to share their faith with our children.

We celebrate God’s presence among us by creating a Christian learning environment through the cooperative efforts of catechists, parents and students. Realizing that parents are the primary religious educators of children, volunteer catechists and aides work to build a community of faith in which each student can better see and understand the action of God in our community through faith-sharing, prayer and liturgy.

Our Children’s Formation programs meet on Sunday mornings and volunteers are needed for preschool through 5th grade. Our catechists teach in teams of two. All materials are provided for you and tuition is waived for your children. Catechists are provided opportunities to further their own faith and learn new methods of catechesis through Pathways workshops and classes offered by the Diocese.

The Cluster Parishes are committed to creating a safe environment for all children and youth and adhere to the Diocese of Richmond’s Safe Environment policies. All diocesan employees, clergy, religious, teachers, staff, and all adult volunteers who regularly or routinely work with children or youth participate in a VIRTUS® Protecting God’s Children training session and complete two background screenings.
